Simple theory in our community every person is a child of God and so are the poor. Especially the young ones that suffer from general poverty and it is not their fault at all. Reaching out to the poor is one of our basic commandments. The back should not be turned away from those in need because everybody is the same in the eyes of a God.
By helping thoroughly to alleviate hunger and its causes we are successfully fighting a poverty impact. Developing many programs is our basic work which is shown as very successful. These programs are usually dealing with finding new food sources, developing agriculture and farming with fighting for food security and independence. Trying to improve the way of life is a great way to make a great source of life needs.
Fighting hunger is a heart of Presbyterian understanding. Today it is a global problem and extremely complex phenomenon that causes many political, economic and social issues. A local congregation will have a great impact on local hunger, and that is why Presbyterian churches are feeding hungry people in their surroundings in Portland. Opening places which provide community meals, food pantries, community gardens and public kitchens is a huge thing for this mission. By building relationships of equality and respect among all church reduces the number of people who are made poor to the level of pity. Alleviating hunger and eliminating its causes is one of the first goals of Presbyterians. Including people from very next door to all across the planet.
